98 GT Header Advice

Okay so I guess its time to step up to a better sounding exhaust system.
Car is currently a stock 98 gt with a Vortech blower. It has borla side pipes and a Mac o/r H-Pipe. Its time for a set of headers and I've narrowed it down to a few choices. I need some input from you guys.

1) keep side pipes and o/r H-pipe and get a set of shorty headers.

2) keep side pipes and buy a H-pipe with cats and a set of shorty headers

3) or keep side pipes, get shorty x or h-pipe and long tube headers

4) or keep side pipes, get shorty x or h-pipe with cats and long tube headers

I like the way it sounds right now with no cats (obviously), but I am getting increasingly worried about being pulled over by the MTO and getting fined. However I am worried that if I put on a set of high flow cats and a set of headers the car will sound even quieter after spending the $$$.

I can't seem to find a video on the net that compares headers for my car with and without cats to hear a direct comparison.

Anyways, just thought I'd get some input from you guys. Also take into consideration that if i get long tubes, then I have to spend extra $$$ on getting a smaller h-pipe.

Mike

Headers won't give you a noticeable increase in sound, it will be a pretty small difference. The Borla side exhaust is pretty quiet-I had it before, I'd say keep it as is, weld in some cats and get some louder mufflers, not sure of the options with side-exit, but I'm pretty sure SpinTech has a setup.

Any idea that if I get long tubes there is a chance I will be scraping them on the ground over speed bumps? I already scrap the bolts for the H-pipe over bumps.

The ROUSH Mustangs with the side exhaust used Magnaflow mufflers.

Shorty's on these mod engines arent worth much if at all in terms of power, and all the money you'll spend on installation. Might as well go Longtubes.

As far as hanging low and scraping...depends on the header manufacturer (some headers tend to hang lower than others), and how low your car is.
